There
is never a single weekday without hearing the voices and laughter of the children
at Smart Reader Kids® Setapak Indah. The fun and delightful
atmosphere at the Centre is only possible in the presence of Smart Reader Kids® Setapak
Indah’s preschoolers and their active participation through many interesting,
creative and interactive activities during lessons in class.
Managing one’s own child enrichment centre for more than a year is not
without sweat and toil. However, for Hamidah Hamid, principal of Smart Reader
Kids® Setapak Indah, there has never been a gloomy day spent at her Centre.
According to her, it is an amazing experience where most of her daily activities
just revolve around the little ones. The children just cheer up her days with
their talks and smiles.
“Since I started running my own Centre, I realised that I have missed
out a lot on Early Childhood Education. If I had the knowledge then, I would
have used a more professional and effective ways to care and educate my children
towards a more constructive personal development. With the knowledge, we can
actually identify the reasons behind each behavior, related problems and the
stages of child development,” expressed Hamidah Hamid, who regrets that
there was not much emphasis on professional Early Childhood Development in
the past, especially not a common practice in our country then.
“Parents nowadays can be very particular and demanding when it comes
to their children’s education. To keep up with the rising expectation
from the parents on quality early childhood education, there is always a need
to keep up with the current issues involving children and be sensitive to their
educational needs,” continued Hamidah.
According to parents, Nizam Shah B. Mohd Noor and Che Tom Bt. Ahmad, there
is nothing more important than seeing their children able to interact confidently,
converse fluently in English, and develop positive traits from young. Together
with their youngest daughter, Alya Aqilah, five, who came for an interview
recently, they expressed satisfaction with the Smart Reader Kids® preschool
programme. All their three children grow up with the Smart Reader Kids® preschool
programme.

Indah, Alya Aqilah enjoys being in school, especially during Smart Maths lesson,
as Mathematics is one of her favourite subjects in preschool. Having the qualities
of being an outspoken and expressive child, Alya is very active in public speaking
and stage performances. Her bubbly personality has gained her a lot of friends.
Even teachers are proud of her progress in school.
“I believe that children can perform at their best with the proper guidance
and environment given to them. At times, we need to praise them for their well
behaviour and achievements. We should also reward them occasionally to motivate
them to achieve better in the future,” said Alya’s mother, Che
Tom.
“We must always sit down with the children, talk to them and be a good
listener at all times. Spending time with them everyday and encourage them
to talk about their daily activities is one of the most important steps in
creating a closer bond among the family members,” continued Nizam Shah.
“I’m thankful to have such wonderful parents like the Nizam Shah’s
couple to assist our role in educating the children. We really appreciate the
faith and trust that they have given us in caring for their kids. It has been
a very valuable teacher-parent relationship that we want to establish with
every parent,” said Hamidah.
