Only The Best For Your Toddler

Like many first time parents, Ashween Kaur never dreamt of sending her child to a day care cum child enrichment centre as early as 15 months. Even her friends were shocked when they heard the news. The most common question of all was, “What does a 15-month old toddler know about schooling?” Several months after registering her daughter with the Smart Reader Kids Junior® programme, Ashween now can answer to her friends’ queries.

Smart Reader Kids Junior® is a place where kids get their first taste of nursery learning. Research has proven that formal early childhood education can help a child be independent, smart and creative from an early age. It also helps to lay the foundation for future learning styles. Compared to home education, Smart Reader Kids Junior® learners are exposed to a fun and interactive learning environment where they mingle with other kids and learn at the same time. Through this creative environment, toddlers have so much fun that the learning process becomes enjoyable.

“After hearing so much about the programme, all I wanted to do for my child was to provide her the opportunity to interact with other children and get her familiarised with the learning process. I want her to learn to be independent and absorb the necessary values at this early stage. I believe that when children start learning early, they will progress smoothly without having the need to prompt them at a later stage,” said Ashween, who finds it an uphill task to train her 20-month old daughter, Jezleendish, without spoiling her.

She explained that parenting is a completely different story. Learning the professional and appropriate ways to bring up a child can mean a whole lot of patience, tolerance and responsibilities. Seeing Jezleendish’s progress each day, Ashween has no regrets working together with the professional child educators at Smart Reader Kids Junior® Damansara Heights in monitoring the development of her daughter in many areas.

Jezleendish was quite timid when she first joined. It took us some time to gain her trust and confidence. We are happy that she is comfortable with the learning environment and is showing progressAt 20-month old Jezleendish may not know what education is all about or how important it is. All she knows is that she has many friends, and she enjoys all the educational activities and fun-play at the Centre. Unlike many toddlers her age, Jezleendish can pronounce words accurately as she speaks in English. She can tell simple story lines, sing, dance and identify pictures very well. She can also recognise letters of the alphabet and count numbers, as well as forming simple sentences on her own. She loves books and always picks one up for her mum to read to her.

According to her mother, Jezleendish is very observant and curious about her surroundings. She is always asking questions. During this interview session, she couldn’t sit still at one place. She was walking around the room, looking at things, picking them up and asking questions. At one point, she just took out a book from the shelf, opened it and put it on the principal’s lap. As Mrs Singh, principal of Smart Reader Kids Junior® Damansara Heights, pointed to the pictures in the book, Jezleendish could impressively name the pictures.

“Jezleendish was quite timid when she first joined. It took us some time to gain her trust and confidence. We are happy that she is comfortable with the learning environment and is showing progress. She can now sing nursery rhymes and perform simple dance movements. Children learn faster through sounds and movements. Once they are interested, they pick things up very fast,” relates Ms Rupalatha, a teacher at Smart Reader Kids Junior® Damansara Heights, who has more than 10 years experience in childcare and early childhood education.

Smart Reader Kids Junior® incorporates the Smart Reader® Creative Teaching Methodology in the fun and play sessions at the Centre.
