Aqilah Bt Mazuki (7) and Muhammad Zizi Bin Izi (6) may be two different individuals with unique characteristics of their own. But, they have one thing in common. Two of them share similar fond memories and experiences of growing up together with Smart Reader Kids® Taman Melawati, which they deemed as one of the most unforgettable moments of their childhood years. Together with their parents, these two children have excitedly shared their tales of joy and stories of achievements during an interview session recently.
Being a former Smart Reader Kids® preschool student for two years, Aqilah has developed the interest in learning and turned her potential into achievements. To her, Primary One syllabus is far too easy than what she has learned in preschool. Having the advantage of being ahead of others in class, Aqilah is never a proud child. She enjoys learning and behaves well. As a child, she is very calm and attentive in most situations.
“My favourite subjects are English and Bahasa Melayu. I also love to draw houses,” said Aqilah, who has the interest in languages. On her free time, she loves to watch the Disney Channel on television with her older brother.
Her proud parents, Mazuki Bin Fredrick and Hanita Bt Hamidon are both happy and impressed with their daughter’s progress and confidence at such an early age.
“I’m very glad that Aqilah can manage things on her own. She is very independent and confident in bringing herself. Her English speaking skills has improved tremendously as she constantly communicates in English with her friends in school. Now, she can read various printed materials in English on her own,” said Mazuki.

Mazuki believes that children should be taught to think for themselves from young and learn to determine what is good for them. By communicating to them, explaining to them and making sure that they understand the consequences of their behaviours, they will learn to “survive” in the real world.
“Adam speaks Bahasa Melayu to his Malay friends and also his grandmother.
When he sees others, he will converse in English. He is a very active and friendly
child. He greets ‘hello’ or ‘good morning,’ and shakes
hands whenever he meets people. He is also able to answer the phone at home.
The other day when we went out, he brought me a CD and asked me for money to
pay for it!” relates Nor Hasnimaizam, who is a police officer in Bukit
Aman.
As for six-year old Muhammad Zizi, life has always been interesting. Being an extremely friendly and outspoken child, he is never bored in school. Having the ability to speak fluent Bahasa Melayu and English, Zizi just enjoy telling stories about himself, his school and his life. His active involvement in class and his confidence level have made him one of the most outstanding children at Smart Reader Kids® Taman Melawati.
“I love going to school because I want to be clever and smart!” exclaimed Zizi. When asked on his interests, he gave a long list of them. “I like playing football, skating and cycling. I love to eat fast foods and I enjoy watching television at home. My favourite television programme is the Cartoon Network in Astro and my cartoon idols are Superman, X-Men and Batman. One of my all-time favourite movies is ‘Back to the Future.’ I also watch ‘Gerak Khas’ series on TV, where I get to see my daddy’s acting,” explained Zizi, son of Izi Yahya, a local artiste in the film industry and Suraya Abdullah.
According to his dad, Zizi learns a lot since he started with Smart Reader Kids®. Both Izi and his wife, Suraya are very impressed with the Smart Reader® Creative Teaching Methodology that helps to develop their son’s confidence, language proficiency and thinking skills in many ways.
“Zizi has been very outspoken since young. He can talk for hours. He is a very curious child and tends to ask a lot of questions as he is eager to clarify all his doubts. He will only be satisfied until he gets the answers he wants, which is good for him because only by asking, will he learn and gain knowledge,” continued Izi.
According to the children’s principal, Dho’un Mahza Azahari or better known as Yong, both the children enjoy learning and mix well with other children in school. During the interview, both children responded well and are able to converse fluently in English and Bahasa Melayu. Aqilah is more of a silent-observer. She is disciplined and more focused academically. Zizi, on the other hand, is very active and more extrovert as he enjoys public speaking and singing.
To further prove and determine the children’s standard and ability in speaking, Yong has even sent the two children to sit for the London College of Music and Media (LCM) Examination by Thames Valley University last year. Both of them scored Honours in “Speech Early Learning” (Stage 3) for their fluency in English and confidence in public speaking.
