Bringing Up The Juniors Creatively

Parenting is not a subject that we can easily learn from books. Once we become parents, it takes us a lifetime assuming the role despite the different stages of parenthood that with the change of responsibilities and commitment.

Bringing up a child can mean a whole load of responsibilities to many busy parents. It may take a longer time to know and understand your child’s character and behavior as he or she grows up.

Smart Reader Kids Junior® has a specially designed programme that provides quality educational experience and care for toddlers aging 15 months to 3 years old. Dr Rashmi Saini and her husband, Dr Hardeep Singh, parents to 3-year old Arvind Singh Kaulsay shared some of their views and experiences on early childhood development and preschool education.

“We just want Arvind to be comfortable with an interactive learning environment and build up on things he couldn’t learn from home. We want him to learn and mix around with other children under proper supervision. Both my husband and I are quite tied up with our profession as doctors. We believe that it is not a wise idea to just leave Arvind at home with the maid when he is supposed to enjoy and interact with other kids his age in a nursery cum day-care centre,” said Dr Rashmi, who started her only son with Smart Reader Kids Junior® Damansara Heights last year after doing much researches on programmes available for toddlers.

Dr Rashmi feels that domestic helpers are only there to assist and help around at home. Children deserve a proper educational centre to help stimulate their thinking minds from young.

Arvind’s dad, Dr Hardeep Singh expressed that he was very impressed with the toddlers’ self-confidence during their performances at the Smart Reader Kids Junior® Concert in Bukit Kiara last year. He said that he was amazed by the teachers’ unlimited patience and care in guiding and educating these very young children.

“While the children are comfortable mingling around with others and love their learning environment, they can absorb knowledge easily and are able to express themselves better. We are happy that Arvind is developing a positive personality and self-confidence through various activities, which he could not possibly experience that from home,” continued Dr Rashmi.

According to Dr Rashmi, due to her husband’s and her busy working schedules, it is difficult for them to spend quality time with Arvind. However, both the parents believe that whenever they have the time, they will make time for their son. Other than that, they are just happy that Arvind is growing up healthily in the right environment.

When asked on the meaning of parenting, both parents feel that it is very important to provide unconditional love and care for the children, especially during their growing years. Besides being there for them when they need us, we also need to be like a friend to them, someone that the kids can relate to.

"Arvind is very inquisitive about his surroundings. He always asks a lot of questions whenever he has the chance. Sometimes, it takes us extra effort to put him to bed. He is just too active"“Arvind is very inquisitive about his surroundings. He always asks a lot of questions whenever he has the chance. Sometimes, it takes us extra effort to put him to bed. He is just too active,” said Dr Rashmi.

According to Ms Harbans Kaur, or better known as Mrs Singh, the principal of Smart Reader Kids Junior® Damansara Heights, Arvind is a very disciplined and obedient child. He follows instructions well and always volunteer to do things in the Centre. He is well loved by everyone in the Centre and often gets attention for being friendly and outspoken.

Dr Rashmi added that her son always rushes her to leave the house early in the morning to be in time for the school assembly, which starts at nine. “He just loves to be there for the singing session,” said Dr Rashmi.

Smart Reader Kids Junior® incorporates the Smart Reader® Creative Teaching Methodology in the fun and play sessions at the Centre.
